The TOR internet browser is a free and open-source software that removes the ability to trace a users internet activity. TOR protects personal privacy by concealing a user's location, IP address and usage from anyone performing network surveillance or traffic analysis. TOR has reicved financial support from The U.S. Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, The University of Cambridge, International Broadcasting Bureau, and Human Rights Watch. TOR has also been used by criminal enterprises, hacktivism groups, law enforcement agencies and provides access to websites banned in certain countries.
